Roaming with Rosie: The Benson Hotel

August 11, 2010

The Benson Hotel, located in The Pearl District, has housed a slew of presidents, celebrities and bigwigs since its opening in 1913.  Yes, Benson Hotel is known for its four star treatment, but this doesn’t extend to just the prestigious.  People like you and me can enjoy unforgettable package deals that will make you feel like a star!

Whether you are on your honeymoon, celebrating an anniversary, a food connoisseur, or just looking to explore Portland,  there is a package for everyone, even our four-legged friends.  The Benson welcomes pets of all sizes to their hotel, and they even have a package deal that will make your furry friend feel right at home.   After hearing about how accommodating The Benson is to pets, I knew I had to take Rosie for a visit to check it out.

The pampering began the moment Rosie waddled into the gorgeous front lobby of The Benson.  She was immediately given some water from a pretty silver pet dish, and a Tempurpedic Benson Buddy bed to lay on.

She was given a Travelin’ Dog doggy bag filled with organic dog treats, a ball, little baggies for doggy messes and a Benson dog tag so that she could easily be returned if she ever wandered off.  Another really cool thing is that The Benson also gives pet owners their very own pet-friendly area guide with places to eat, pet spas, dog parks, etc.  But the Benson Buddy treatment isn’t just for dogs, bring your feline friend and they too will get some specialized treatment.

The Benson Buddy package can be added to any room for an extra $25.  Contact The Benson for reservations and find their great deals, like $99 for an all inclusive room, on Forkfly!

Roaming With Rosie: Portland Pedal Power

August 2, 2010

No one loves and appreciates Portland food carts as much as Portland Pedal Power (PPP), well except for maybe our office dog Rosie.  PPP has been making food cart bike deliveries to locals since 2008, and Rosie decided it was time she met the people behind this growing sustainable business model.

Portland Pedal Power first partnered with The Savor Soup House, a food cart located at 1003 SW Alder St, in the winter of 2008 to deliver the cart’s food to businesses and individuals.  From that first business PPP grew and grew, and now they deliver food from over 15 different food carts/restaurants and deliver products from seven different businesses.  Some of my favorite food joints, like Seres Restaurant, Koi Fusion, Pacific Pie Company and Big Ass Sandwiches, deliver through PPP!

Much like us here at Forkfly, PPP is all about supporting and partnering with other local small businesses.  They provide an important service to our community in the form of sustainable delivery and they actively encourage us all to “keep it local!”  They are leaders in our community and forerunners in the Portland bike scene.

Rosie loved meeting PPP’s employees and was excited to get a picture taken with the delivery bikes and the hard working Jenn Dederich pictured below.

We are proud to offer Portland Pedal Power’s deals and services on Forkfly.  To find out more about their business model and delivery services visit their website here.  And don’t forget to check out their deals on Forkfly!
